A Bit About Me

Godfrey is the larger-than-life lawyer at MNM who confesses that he can still envision a life as a stand-up comedian. While he is currently focused on honing his practicing craft, in the near future he does not rule out trying to be a judge during his sunset years.

Godfrey, Head of Alternative Dispute Resolution

"In dispute resolution, I immensely enjoy finding common ground between two parties, so that everyone walks away satisfied."

Professional Expertise

Godfrey describes himself as a problem solver and that there is no issue any of his clients face that he does not see a potential solution for, either via alternative dispute resolution or litigation. With seven years of experience wheeling and dealing in commercial, civil, criminal and public law litigation, he is one of the most experienced hands at the firm and offers valuable guidance to the younger lawyers.

He swears by alternative dispute resolution as a means of settling matters affecting his clients due to the cost-effective nature of the approach and is not litigious and long-winded like the court process. Furthermore, mediation, arbitration and negotiation will always preserve the relationship between parties in conflict which is an important aspect of why Godfrey believes in the process.

Godfrey specializes in industrial and labour-related disputes, consumer protection and professional negligence claims, constitutional petitions & judicial review, succession matters and medical negligence claims. His client list is long and varied including: Banks and Financial institutions in realizations of securities and enforcement of chattels contracts. He has acted on behalf of secured and unsecured creditors in insolvency proceedings, represented clients on restructuring options, schemes of arrangements, administration and liquidation and insurance companies against claims arising from Insurance contracts, recoveries against third Party tortfeasors, material damage and subrogation recoveries and other insurance-related litigation.

Godfrey sees the future of most commercial matters lying in compulsory mediation and is very passionate about growing that arm and capacity of the firm. Godfrey only has eyes for being an even better practitioner of the law in future due to his unrestrained love for the courtroom. Away from the office, Godfrey is perpetually making his friends and family laugh and supporting Chelsea whom he hopes to one day represent in one of his commercial law cases. He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the East Africa Law Society (EALS).
